Description
I just purchased this Wien Augarten (Porzellanmanufacktur Augarten Ges. M. b, H., Wiener) ginger / mantle jar from a local estate here in Central Virginia. Augarten was founded in 1923 "to renew and continue the former state-owned (Ararial-)-Porzellanmanufaktur" in Augarten Palace, successor to the factory founded by Du Paquier in Vienna in 1718. Augarten continues to produce some of the finest quality porcelain in the world and this ginger jar is a lovely example of their Viennese Rose line. The piece is beautifully cast with crisp mold and thin walls to the bright white body. The hand painted decoration shows a central stylized rose on two faces surrounded by rose buds and foliage. The borders are highlighted with thin sage green bands. The piece measures 12 1/2" high and 4 1/2' wide at the shoulder. The base bears the pictured "Wien" blue beehive mark, "Augarten Vienna Handpainted" and production numbers "575" "5089" "329". The base and lid are in excellent condition with no damage or noted surface wear. This elegant Viennese Rose jar would make a nice addition to any collection of Wien Augarten porcelain or mantle decor.

Shipping

Terms of Sale
Returns are accepted in the case the item is significantly Not As Described in the ad text and pictures.
