    Description

    CIVIL WAR - US Navy Commander W. B. Cushing "LINCOLN'S COMMANDO" 1957 1st Ed.
This captivating book details the life of one of the Union navy's most heroic young officers and his involvement in the Southern blockade and the sinking of the ironclad Albemarle.
Roske and Van Doren's book "Lincoln's Commando" is the story of the daring exploits of Lieutenant William Cushing, United States Navy during the Civil War. Cushing's unconventional coups brought him to the attention of Lincoln who assigned him the task of sinking the Confederate ironclad Albemarle. With a few men, two small wooden launchers and a makeshift torpedo he commenced his raid. The book is great insight into the mind of an unconventional warrior who thinks out-side-the-box.
