    Star on Many a Battlefield.  Brevet Brigadier General Joseph Karge' in the American Civil War.  By Colonel Francis C. Kajencki.  Hardcover, dj is in mylar, pub. 1980, 280 pages.  Very good condition.  Karge was a Polish soldier who came to America in 1851 as a political refugee after the Polish revolution of 1848.  When the Civil War broke out he was Lt. Colonel of the 1st New Jersey Cavalry which participated in a number of campaigns in the eastern theater.  He then trained and led the 2nd New Jersey Cavalry which fought in the West.  His forces won a victory over the cavalry of Nathan Forrest, participated in the Meridian Expedition, fought at Brice;s Cross Roads, Grierson's Raid and led several raids in Alabama.  Shipping weight over 1 pound.
