Here is a nice first edition book about the most famous general for the Confederacy during the Ameican Civil War for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!
Very nice 1st Edition (not sure if first printing with saying October 1908) of this Civil War book.  The book is entitled, "Robert E Lee The Southerner".
The book was written by Thomas Nelson Page.  Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, in 1908  Shows 1909 on the title page.
This book does not come to the market very often.
Very desirable copy of this classic Civil War book issuance.
The book has dark green hard covers with gold gilt print on the front cover and spine.
The front and back covers are still securely attached to the rest of the book at the spine.  Some cracking of the seam of the covers on the inside of the front and back.
All the pages appear to still be there.  Some very minor rub to the covers at the edges, front bottom corner pressed in a little.  A number of illustrations on pages throughout the book.
Some light browning of the pages.  No foxing or brown spotting.  Some minor soiling in places. The book's pages are all intact, no major tears, missing pages or repairs.
Exception to that remark is that the bottom of pages 83-88 is torn out and missing, see pic.
Spine shows wear at the edges.  Some finish loss along the front and back covers on the outside on open side.
No other writing in the book that we can ascertain besides what noted above and here.
Only exception is dedication in ink by a father to his daughter on one of the front pages, see pic.
No musty, tobacco, or mildewy smell.  One of the front blank pages has pulled off the spine, still with the book.  A dusty smell to the book being 130 plus years old.
The book is 7-11/16" tall, by 5.25" across, by 1-1/8" wide.  The book is 312 pages in length.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.  Don’t be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.
