Nice hardcover gilt pictorial covers with gilt spine lettering and black embossed decorations.
These each cover one year of the Civil war -very much in detail with several illustration [a quick count of just 1 volume was 170 -so these
may have up to 680 illustrations!
]
and several maps.
These
have sold up to 5 EACH
on ebay before.

Pages are not quite as toned as some of my pictures make them out to be.
They look about as good as picture 5 -clean and very lightly toned.
Insides are nearly perfect
with just a few pages dog-eared and a few small rips [most under an inch, but there was one that was about 4"]. They have been taped with doc. tape.  - 2 of the brown endpapers were ripped and previously taped; 2 of the endpapers are starting to come loose. Two of the frontis tissues are missing.No other loose or missing pages. Redeeming the Republic has about 200 bumped pages inside top gutter [see picture w/ my finger in it - that's the worse it gets, it gets much better the farther out you go from the center].

ips and spine ends are worn and have had a
small amount of pen touch up
. Freedom book has a repair job top spine. Marching spine has a couple small holes. The
binding and textblock are secure
- but 3 of the 8 inside hinges lightly cracked [some a little worse than others, some not at all  -but generally still holding well]. One of the volumes has a bad bumped front bottom tip [shown].
Except for the spine ends and board tips- g
enerally very good -excellent for age.
Please zoom in pictures. The last one shows the "ugliness" of each volume - you can see the color of the pen touch up to the top books' edge.
