Offered for sale is a relative rare Pilot 60th Anniversary Coronation of Emperor Showa Fountain Pen made to commemorate the 60th Anniversary Coronation of Emperor Showa or Hirohito.  Emperor Showa reigned on the Chrysanthemum throne of Japan from December 25, 1926 until his death on January 7, 1989.  This pen is made in 1986 in 2 versions viz. sterling silver and sterling silver base with gold and black lacquer decoration.  The pen cap, clip and barrel end are treated with special engraving process to give it a molten look.  The barrel is decorated with an engraved chrysanthemum and phoenixes.  This pen also comes with high relief cast silver chrysanthemum with the Kanji word that means longevity at the cap top.  This is to symbolise the Emperor’s long life.
This pen is 5 1/4” long and is mint in the box. Comes with the original Paulownia wooden box, paper cardboard box and papers as shown below. The pen is tarnished due to years of storage. Never been used, inked nor dipped.  This pen also comes with a 14k Medium nib. A truly collectible piece of art.
