Chinkin Hawk Fountain Pen 2008/2009
Fountain Pen Rare - Out of Production (NIB)
Product Description
Offered for sale is a Namiki Chinkin Hawk produced by the late Master Shouji Michikami that was released around 2008/2009. While this is not a limited edition, late Master Michikawa’s masterpieces are rare in the market given the amount of work needed to produce these Chinkin pieces.
Chinkin is a traditional Japanese maki-e art whereby thousands of lines and dots were carved onto a hard surface and then hand filled with gold powder to highlight the patterns on it. The work needs steady hands and good eyesight to complete. The number of skilled artists capable of mastering this art is very limited. Late Master Michikami was one of such masters highly acclaimed for such this art. In fact, orders were pouring in when Namiki introduced the Chinkin series to its pens. It was said that Master Michikami worked very hard to fulfil these orders that his health deteriorated over time.
This pen embodied the painstaking craftsmanship and superior attention needed to detail the very essence of the Chinkin art. This collection features the Hawk Fountain Pen. The meticulous carvings of the Chinkin technique yield great expression and hence extremely realistic designs. This fountain pen comes with a 18 karat gold M nib. This pen Includes its traditional wooden box, original packaging, a bottle of ink, certificates, instruction manual and artisan autographed paper. Mint condition. This is one Namiki piece that Namiki art lovers would have to add into their collection. A truly collectible piece of art that is difficult to come by.
