    Description

Mary A. Livermore: My History of the War: A Woman’s Narrative of Four Years Personal Experience  as Nurse in the Union Army, and in Relief Work at Home, in Hospitals, Camps, and at the Front During the War of the Rebellion with Anecdotes, Pathetic Incidents, and Thrilling Reminiscences Portraying the Lights and Shadows of Hospital Life and the Sanitary Service of the War.  Superbly Illustrated with Portraits and Numerous Full-Page Engravings on Steel, and Fine Chromo-lith Plates (8 Civil War Color Battle Flag Plates of Union and Condederate Regiments with 61 page "Publisher's Introduction to the Battle-Flags").  A.D. Worthington. 1890. Hartford, Conn.  Maroon cloth over gilt stamped boards, gilt-stamped Livermore inscription on front, gilt lettered and decorated spine.  700 pages plus publisher's ads.  Engraved Livermore portrait frontispiece. Green floral endpapers.  Much on other women of the War with engraved portraits, 8 full-plate figure engravings engraved on steel in pure line and stipple, Battle Flags Arranged by State and Confederate Battle-Flags.
Condition:  Some occasional "White-Out" (?) used on some of the engraved plates in borders perhaps to cover some foxing.  I'm not really sure what this accomplished... Mostly stays in border with a small slip here and there.  Fraying to head and tail of spine, fading to spine, corners bumped and frayed through.  Binding is sound.  Overall, very good condition with exceptions noted.  Please see photos for more details.
