“ACivil War Treasury of Tales Legends & Folklore,
” edited with an Introduction by B. A. Botkin, with illustrations by Warren Chappell, contains more than 330 personal narratives, anecdotes, yarns, tall tales, jests, strange tales, and fables, that were collected from many sources, letters written around the time of the war, diaries, newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets, and the like.
