Memoir of a soldier in the 1st Michigan Light Artillery, battery D which fought in the Western Theater of the War. Harry Bartlett was saddler in the battery and witnessed intense combat in several major actions, including Chickamauga where battery was over-run and some of the guns captured, and was given special commendation for helping save some of the guns during the Battle. Includes Battery D's complete roster with mini service biography of every soldier in the unit.
