Description

Ch. Tintern Tip Top was bred and owned by W. J. Phillips, Tintern Kennels, Birmingham, England.
Phillips sold this outstanding Airedale Terrier to the Anoakia Kennels of Anita Baldwin, California.
It was from Anita Baldwin that Charles W. Quetschke of Toledo, Ohio acquired International Ch. Tintern Tip Top.
The Quetschke's Caswell Kennel would exhibit their new Champion and use him as a stud dog. Among the breedings was Ch. Tintern Tip Top to Caswell Maid, a daughter of the heralded Ch. Abbey King Knobbler.
The newly elected President of the United States, Warren Harding, and a friend were discussing the President acquiring a pet dog, with Harding preferring an Airedale Terrier.
President Harding’s friend knew of Charles Quetschke and his Airedale Terriers and contacted Quetschke about acquiring an Airedale for the President.
Quetschke knew finding a dog suitable for the rigors and the high visibility of life at the White House was of tantamount importance and so Questschke "re-acquired" a young Tip Top son he had recently sold, an Airedale he called "Laddie Boy".
Laddie Boy was skillfully trained by Quetschke (along with an "understudy Airedale") for life at the White House as well as life in the eye of the global press.
And so it was, on March 5, 1921, Charles Quetschke presented Laddie Boy, the young son of Ch. Tintern Tip Top and Caswell Maid, to President Warren Harding.
Tintern Tip Top's son, Laddie Boy, became the official pet of the White house at 10:45 am that day.
This heralded son of Ch. Tintern Tip Top, received a great deal of publicity and enhanced the public's interest in the Airedale breed.
