    Description

The Diary of a Young Officer Serving With the Armies of the United States During the War of the Rebellion.  By Josiah Marshall Favill.  Dark green cloth hardcover, pub. 1909, this is 2000 reprint.  298 pages, no rosters and index.  Part of the Army of the Potomac Series by Butternut and Blue.  Like new condition, bought new, never read and has been on my shelf for over 25 years.  The author kept a meticulous diary during his Civil War service with the 57th New York Infantry.  Very detailed look at army life, battle field actions.
The author saw action at First Bull Run, the Penisula Campaign, Second Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Todd's Tavern where he was seri ously wounded. A great first hand account by an officer of the Union Army who served with General Samuel Zook.
Scarce regimental history.  Shipping weight over 1 pound.
I am selling off my Civil War and military book collection in which I have a large number of older and rare histories, including a number of regimental histories.  I will combine shipping but due to the number of volumes the sale may take quite some time.  I have both Union and Confederate histories.  Also some reunion ribbons, photos, cdvs.  My collection spans over 50 years of collecting, now have moved into a smaller home and do not have the room.  Please follow my auctions for more books in your interest. If there is anything specific you are looking for please send me a message.  Also please note that eBay is very politically correct and does not like to have a book listed that has the Confederate flag so you might see some of my listings with something hiding the flag which may appear on the cover or the dust jacket.
