Description
A Soldier's Recollections of the Civil War. By S. Black. With supplemental chapters by comrades. Red cloth hardcover, this was originally a pamphlet that was rebound in red cloth, pub. by the Minco Minstel (Oklahoma) in the years of 1911 and 1912, 117 pages. Very good condition, title page has some red coloring where the original red covers bled onto the title page. The 1st Iowa Independent Battery of Light Artillery served in Arkansas (Pea Ridge), the Vicksburg campaign, Chattanooga, Atlanta campaign and Nashville. Includes a short section of reminiscences by five other members of the battery. This is an original, not a reprint or print on demand. Very scarce in the original. Shipping weight just over 1 pound.I don't like to use media mail on high price items as it seems to take a long time nowadays to get media delivered within a reasonable time plus the books have been getting lost in the system.
I am selling off my Civil War and military book collection in which I have a large number of older and rare histories, including a number of regimental histories. I will combine shipping but due to the number of volumes the sale may take quite some time. I have both Union and Confederate histories. Also some reunion ribbons, photos, cdvs. My collection spans over 50 years of collecting, now have moved into a smaller home and do not have the room. Please follow my auctions for more books in your interest. If there is anything specific you are looking for please send me a message.
